The raptors didn't look the best out there tonight but still got the best of the 2-10 Rockets winning 116-109. The Raptor's defense proved to be a problem tonight with the Rockets scoring 37 in the first quarter but the Raptors picked it up holding them to 17 in the second quarter. Their main defensive problem recently has been rotations, Nurse's strategy of doubling the opposing team's best player may shut them down but it consistently leaves shooters open and the defenders just can't get there fast enough to contest the shot. This style of defense calls for lots of movement, leading players to be more tired on offense, which cannot happen.
Top performers:
Fred Vanvleet: 32pts/3reb/4ast/4stl and 7/16 from 3
O.G. Anunoby: 27pts/10reb/3stl and 4/9 from 3
Otto Porter Jr: 14pts/6reb and 63% from the field
Otto finally had his breakout game for the Raptors and was great off the bench providing a good spark for the team while they were struggling. O.G. is really starting to show some of that potential from earlier in his still has things to work on with his offense like his handles but that's still possible at this point in his career and he's showing signs of improvement. Vanvleet had his second 30-point game of the season on good efficiency which was another key factor to the win.
Precious was helped back to the locker room with a right ankle sprain and will get an MRI.
