It was revealed Friday night, July 28th, by Los Angeles Galaxy Head coach Greg Vanney that midfielder Gastón Brugman faces a knee injury after the game against Club León on Wednesday. Los Angeles faces off against the Vancouver Whitecaps tonight, at the Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson.
The Galaxy has had a rough time with keeping key players on the field. This comes as the third serious injury for the Galaxy, as striker Javier Hernandez recovered from an ACL tear in June, and center back Martín Cáceres still hasn't returned from his knee injury that occurred in the same month.
Brugman will be attending a knee procedure next week, and the rest of the club expects to know more.
As Brugman passes his teammate Riqui Puig for the most line-breaking passes, the Galaxy sits at 13th in the Western Conference. Brugman is also one of the most elite passers in the league, data analytic source PFF FC stated on Twitter. This will definitely open a wound that will be hard to heal leading into the match tonight.
There have been no recovery reports on the Uruguayan defensive midfielder, but Brugman seems to be in high spirits on Twitter, reposting the following tweet earlier today.
