Galaxy Acquire Barrios in Rapids Trade, Beat Transfer Deadline by Day to Welcome Yoshida

The five-time MLS Cup champions made their final transfer ahead of the deadline closure today. The L.A. Galaxy received forward Michael Barrios from the Colorado Rapids, forfeiting L.A.'s 2024 SuperDraft pick and up to $50K in General Allocation Money (GAM) as reported by Jonathan Sigal. Barrios will provide an expedient delivery of goals - - something unnatural in this club's season, where the Galaxy sit right above Colorado at 13th in the Western Conference.

The Galaxy has made moves this summer; midfielder Diego Fagundez, for example, was transferred from Austin FC - - exchanging for midfielder Memo Rodríguez. Austin also received a reported $900K in General Allocation Money (GAM). Fagundez has scored 68 goals and 67 assists within 13 MLS seasons. Spending the majority of his time in New England as a homegrown player, Fagundez has the title of being only one of eleven footballers to reach over 65 goals and assists in regular season play. The 28-year-old will not appear to slow down, joining alongside threats such as Riqui Puig, Tyler Boyd, and Douglas Costa.


L.A. has also signed defender Tony Alfaro from New York City FC; additionally, according to Tom Bogert of MLS Network, the LA Galaxy will finalize a deal for Dallas FC midfielder Edwin Cerrillo in the near future.
