Cavs @ Lakers Gameday Preview

LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers take on Donovan Mitchell and the Cleveland Cavaliers in an early game today at 12:30 PM PST at Crypto.com arena in LA.

Official Pre-Game Injury Report:

LAL: Anthony Davis, Questionable (Back), LeBron James, Probable (Foot), Wenyen Gabriel, Probable (Illness)

Coach Darvin Ham said earlier today that he expects both AD and LeBron to be on the court today, however, AD still remains Questionable and is most likely going to be a near game time decision.

CLE: Donovan Mitchell, Questionable (Ankle), Darius Garland, Questionable (Knee), Dylan Windler, OUT (Ankle)

The Lakers have had an extremely disappointing start to the season. The one to blame here is GM Rob Pelinka, who so far has failed to put a decent roster around LeBron James and Anthony Davis. The Lakers are clearly lacking shooting, as they are shooting an awful 28.3% from three point land as a team.

3 Main Keys To Winning:

1. LA has to continue to play great defense, although they didn't have a great defensive performance against the Jazz, they still stand as the sixth best defensive team in the NBA. There has to be a defensive answer for Donovan Mitchell (31.1 PPG), he is an early MVP Candidate and has been performing phenomenal without All-Star teammate Darius Garland.

2. LeBron James has been dealing with some kind of sickness and he hasn't been performing all that great recently, it's going to take a LeBron James masterclass to stand a chance against the Cavs. Anthony Davis also needs to be a defensive anchor in the paint today, which he's done a great job of this year so far. Davis (29) is ranked #3 for Early Defensive Player of the year voting. If he can stay healthy, he most certainly can win the award.

3. The Lakers MUST be able to consistently knock down their threes today to have any shot at beating the Cavs. The goal for today is to be shooting at least 35% from three. This is clearly one of if not the most critical aspect of the game that the Lakers need to improve on. If they shoot poorly, we can almost certainly expect a Cavs W today.

Game Odds:

Cleveland -180, Los Angeles +152 (Official as of 7 AM PST, 11/6/22)
