Jevon Carter had career-highs points (36) and assists (12), Brook Lopez tallied 24 points, and the Bucks (10-1) won a back-and-forth game with the Thunder (4-7) 136-132 as leading scorers Giannis Antetokounmpo (knee) and Jrue Holiday (ankle) watched from the bench.
Oklahoma City guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander continued his impressive start to the season, leading the way with 39 points for the Thunder, who lost their fourth straight game. Sophomore guard Josh Giddey had 18 points and15 rebounds for the Thunder.
Carter got going early, knocking down all four of his first quarter three-point attempts, and the Bucks opened the game shooting the lights out from distance (7/11), but the Thunder were able to keep Milwaukee at bay and the game was tied at 27 by the end of the period. The contest remained close throughout the second and third periods before Milwaukee pulled ahead early during the fourth quarter.
The Bucks seemed to have the game in cruise control late in the fourth quarter, leading by 11 with just over four minutes remaining, before the Thunder went on a 16-5 to end regulation. Carter had a chance to win the game at the buzzer but missed a mid-range jump shot with Lu Dort's hand in his face.
In the first overtime, Bobby Portis made a go-ahead layup with eight seconds before Gilgeous-Alexander hit a clutch step-back three pointer to put the Thunder up one with 0.6 seconds left. After the Bucks called timeout to advance the ball, Dort fouled Brook Lopez on a last-second lop attempt. Lopez missed the first free throw before hitting the second, sending the game to double overtime.
Rookie MarJon Beauchamp, drafted 24th by the Bucks this offseason, made five of his eight three-point attempts, putting up a career-high 19 points in the second start of his career.
Looking forward, the Bucks will finish their three-game road trip with a game in San Antonio for a matchup against the Spurs (5-6) on Friday, November 11.
