Trail Blazers lose to Suns 82-102 last night, falling to a 6-3 record as Phoenix rises to 7-2.
This was a rough game on offense for Portland, with nothing clicking and shots not falling. 4 players shot under 30% including Josh Hart, who dropped a dismal 4 points, but picking it up in other areas grabbing 7 rebounds and dishing 8 assists. Justice Winslow had a very poor shooting night going 2/9, as it seems like no one on the team was playing like they did the game before. Jerami Grant led all Portland players in scoring with 14 points, followed by rookie Shaedon Sharpe with 13. Jusuf Nurkić and Josh Hart led in rebounds with 7 each.
For Phoenix, they didn’t have a great game either, as Portland played decent defense the whole night. They still won by 20, due to the Blazers combined 30/79 shooting from the field. Devin Booker led all players in scoring with 24 points, and Chris Paul followed that up with 15. Dario Sarić led all rebounders with 9. The Suns shot 35/82 as a team, only slightly better than Portland.
Overall, this was a very underwhelming game. Damian Lillard, Anfernee Simons, and Cameron Johnson were all out tonight due to injury, and both teams shot terrible from inside and out. Phoenix overtakes Portland for the 1 seed in the west, and Portland falls to the 4 seed. With Lillard and Simons both returning very soon, I am not worried about the Blazers record falling more. They will be back at the top of the west in no time.
